September 2026 with Rep. Anthony Loubet

Hello District 27!

I hope you are all doing well. I wanted to take a moment to share some legislative updates and upcoming community events. As always, I appreciate the opportunity to stay connected and keep you informed about the work happening on your behalf.

Campaign Kickoff!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our campaign kickoff! It was great seeing friends and neighbors coming and going throughout the event, hearing what matters most to you, and sending people home with food, campaign signs, and some swag.

I’m grateful for your support and excited to keep talking with our community about the issues that matter most as we work together to build a stronger future for Utah!

Policy Discussion & Pizza Night
Rep. Matt MacPherson and I are hosting a Policy Discussion and Pizza Night with special guest, Speaker Mike Schultz. Stop by to meet your West Side representatives, ask questions, share your thoughts and ideas, and enjoy some free pizza with your neighbors. We'd love to see you there!

Supporting Utah's Childcare Community
Earlier this month, I attended an “Ice Cream and Impact” event in Magna focused on bringing greater awareness to the challenges facing child care in Utah. I had the opportunity to listen to concerns from community members and local child care providers, along with other legislative candidates.

With federal funding reductions, Utah is facing an approximately $15 million reduction in child care funding. This will have real consequences for child care providers and the families who rely on these services. There is concern that some providers may be forced to close their doors, making it even harder for parents to find affordable, reliable child care.

This is an issue that deserves our attention. I believe it is important to listen to those directly affected and work with state leaders to find practical solutions that support families, protect access to child care, and help our communities continue to thrive. I remain engaged in this ongoing issue.
Supporting Utah's Skilled Trades Workforce
Representative Jim Dunnigan and I co-hosted a recent visit to the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters’ training center. I had the opportunity to promote their apprenticeship program and see firsthand the work being done to prepare Utah’s next generation of skilled workers.

These programs provide hands-on training, real-world experience, and a pathway to good careers. I’m proud to help highlight and support opportunities like this that strengthen Utah’s workforce and help build our communities and infrastructure.
Copperton Days

Thank you to everyone who came to visit me at Copperton Days! It was great to connect with so many of you at one of the last summer festivals on the West Side. Even though the season of summer festivals is over, I’ll be hosting more events, town halls, and meet-and-greets throughout the election, so stay tuned!

Interim Highlights
The Legislature’s work continued this month during our August interim meetings. I serve on the Government Operations and Judiciary Interim Committees, and I’m also the Vice Chair of the General Government Appropriations Committee.

About every other month, our Appropriations Committee meets jointly with House and Senate members to take a deeper look at different parts of the state budget. This month, I had the opportunity to chair the meeting. We heard from Nate Checketts, the new Inspector General of the Utah Office of Inspector General of Medicaid Services, about their efforts to eliminate Medicaid fraud, waste, and abuse and make sure taxpayer dollars are being used responsibly.

Our other conversations included artificial intelligence in political advertising, justice court reform, and addressing conflicts of interest at the highest levels of Utah’s government. You can see the full list of study items
 here.

Our next interim meetings are September 16. I hope to see you there!
