July 2026

July 2026 with Rep. Anthony Loubet

Hello District 27!

I hope you are all doing well. I wanted to take a moment to share some legislative updates and upcoming community events. As always, I appreciate the opportunity to stay connected and keep you informed about the work happening on your behalf.

Campaign Kickoff!

We're excited to officially kick off our campaign with a community event on Friday, August 28th, and we hope you'll join us! Join with friends and neighbors for free food and drinks. We will have T-shirts, yard signs, and other swag to help our community get to know more about me. I will be available for conversation about the issues that matter most to you and our community. Come help in anyway you can to spread the word to our community! We'll be at Lodestone Park starting at 6:00 PM.
We'd love to see you there!

Summer Celebrations

Summer celebrations are in full swing! We had a great time celebrating the Fourth of July and joining in the many town celebrations, parades, and community events throughout the West Side. These gatherings are a great reminder of what makes our communities special: neighbors coming together, families creating memories, and generations celebrating the traditions that make our area such a wonderful place to call home. Thank you to everyone who helped organize these events and to all those who came out to celebrate with friends, family, and neighbors.

Judicial Reforms

Last month, Governor Cox appointed two new justices to the Utah Supreme Court. These appointments stem from SB 134, legislation passed during the 2026 General Session that expanded the Utah Supreme Court by adding two justices and increased the number of judges in the state's lower courts.

The bill has generated confusion and concern, leading to a significant amount of misinformation about what it actually does. To help separate fact from fiction, my colleague, Rep. Matt MacPherson, and I took a deep dive into the changes to Utah's judicial branch, the reasoning behind the legislation, and what it means for the future of the state's courts. Council of State Governments

I recently had the opportunity to attend the Council of State Governments (CSG) West Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City.

The CSG West Annual Meeting brings together state leaders from across the western United States to share ideas, discuss common challenges, and develop practical solutions. It was a valuable opportunity to learn from other states and have meaningful conversations about how we can strengthen state government and better serve the people of Utah.
